Mysore, with its cool and salubrious climate, provides an environment for learning and has become the abode of excellent academic pursuits. The very approach by road or train provides an omniscient view of Chammundi Hill and the Indo – Saracenic canopies of Palaces, is delightful to the eye as one passes through rolling meadows and paddy fields and with the skyline unpunctuated by factory chimneys. The atmosphere in Mysore is vibrant and poetic. The sunset at Kukkarahalli augments one’s poetic fervor. “When the evening sun touches the rippling water surface to produce uncanny lighting effects and the western sky presented a gorgeous display of colors and cloud formations at sunset. The twilight paves the way for the appealing illumination of the Palaces”. Even during the pre-independence days, Mysore was known as a Centre of Excellence for Education. Great Educationists like Sri. K.C. Reddy, Sri. Mirza Ismail, Sir. M. Vishwesvaraiah under the patronage of His Highness Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar started various institutions to provide in good quality education for the students.
Many astute and diligent academicians have left indelible impressions in the minds of Mysoreans. Sri. K.S. Sathyanarayana Rao, Sri. Nanjundaiah, Sri. S. Narasimhaprasad and Prof. B.K. Nagappa are few names that invigorate us while presenting the profile of the Institute of Education Trust.
The Trust laid stress on quality education, Methodological impartation of knowledge. Thus it started a college of Education (B.Ed.) to provide educational training for secondary school teachers. Later, to accentuate the implementation the trust started High Schools in various extensions of Mysore city. Sri. K.S. Suryanarayana Rao, a true Gandhian, and a freedom fighter was the chief architect of this education trust. He has given his mind, heart and sensibility in building these institutions. Today we have, from primary level to tertiary level, various educational Institutions providing education for the deprived, socially ostracized and the urban students on similar platitude.
